Isla did a really good job today. Her forehand is getting much more consistent and she's doing a better job of making contact out in front instead of letting the ball get too close to her. Her rallying was better too. We got up 12 balls back and forth a couple of times, which was great.
She needs to stop trying to hit every ball as hard as she can, especially when she gets an easy ball. When she sees a short ball, she gets excited and swings way too big, and then she loses control. She also needs to stop standing and watching after she hits the ball. A few times she hit a good shot, but didn't recover back to the middle, so the next ball was really hard for her.
Next, I want her to work on controlling the ball before worrying about hitting it harder. I'd like her to focus on getting more height over the net and aiming to bigger targets. We also need to keep working on recovering after every shot and getting ready for the next ball. Her serve is improving. She's starting to get the idea of reaching up to the ball, and she's getting more serves in. Her toss still gets away from her sometimes, so next lesson I'd like to work on getting the toss a little more consistent.
Overall, really good lesson. Her confidence is definitely improving, and she's starting to build points instead of just trying to hit winners right away.
Isla's serve rhythm is just way off, it's all over the place. She's hitting the ball, getting excited, and she's not focusing on control.
